Ingredients: |
1 cup sugar 3/4 cup shortening (ex. Crisco) 1 egg 1/4 cup molasses additional granulated sugar for rolling cookies |
2 cups flour 2 teaspoons soda 1/2 teaspoon cloves 1/2 teaspoon ginger 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt |

Instructions: |
Mix sugar, shortening, egg and molasses well. Sift dry ingredients and mix into the dough. Chill. Make into balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on greased cooking sheet. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 8 – 10 minutes. |

Cookies should be removed from oven while still soft and moist, not cooked dry. |
