Ingredients:
2 lg cans of Pork n Bean
1 med onion
4 strips of bacon
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp of mustard
Cooking Instructions:
Cut each bacon strip into 8 pieces and start cooking on medium heat while you chop the onion in fairly small bits. When bacon is almost done add onion to saute'. When bacon is cooked, drain excessive grease and return skillet to stove. Pour in both cans of beans and add brown sugar and mustard. Cook on low - med heat for 10 min. Stir often to keep from sticking. If not sweet enough, add more brown sugar.
Serving Suggestions:
Wonderful side dish for BBQ, grilled cheese sandwich or any quick meal. Great dish to take to "Bring A Dish" get-to-gethers!
Additional Comments:
If you have an electric skillet, this is a good dish to fix and let sit on warm while doing other things.
Origin of this recipe:
Grandmother made this recipe for grand kids who would not eat plain beans. The sugary taste was appealing to them all!
